Equine Acupuncture
Contrary to what many people believe, acupuncture does more than relieve pain and muscle tension – most horses can benefit from treatment.
Acupuncture can be an important tool not only when illness or injury is present, but also for maintaining your horse’s overall health.

Real horses, real outcomes.

““Amalfa” is a now 22-year-old German warmblood mare that I treated in the spring of 2013 in Germany. Her owner asked whether acupuncture could help with what was thought to be sweet itch.”

“Amalfa is a very sensitive mare who has worked in dressage up to Grand Prix level. Shortly before I first saw her she had moved to a new yard. The owner reported that the mare started to itch especially when she came into the stable after turnout, rubbing herself so violently that the box was almost damaged. She scratched all over her body, not only on the typical areas such as mane and tail.”

Science behind equine acupuncture
My approach is grounded in peer-reviewed veterinary research and integrates traditional Chinese veterinary medicine with modern diagnostics and outcome tracking.
Evidence from clinical practice
A 2022 review in Veterinary Clinics of North America: Equine Practice describes equine acupuncture as a low-risk, cost-effective modality with applications in musculoskeletal, neurologic and internal-medicine cases such as back pain, laminitis, colic, laryngeal hemiplegia and suprascapular neuropathy. The authors highlight a growing body of literature supporting its use in horses, while also stressing the need for more robust, placebo-controlled clinical trials.
